This Privacy Policy describes how Chess Puzzles ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our Android application. We designed the app to work offline for puzzle play and to collect only what is needed for core features.
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
This information is saved using Android on-device storage (DataStore and SharedPreferences). We do not operate our own servers and do not receive this local progress data.
If you choose to use the leaderboard, the app uses Google Play Games Services to submit your score and display leaderboard rankings. That feature is provided by Google and may involve your Google account and Play Games profile according to Google's Privacy Policy. Leaderboard use is optional; puzzle play does not require signing in.
With your permission (Android 13+), the app may send local reminders to encourage daily practice. Notifications are scheduled on your device. You can disable them in system settings at any time.
The app requests Internet access only for optional Google Play Games leaderboard features. Chess puzzles themselves can be played without a network connection.
Local app data remains on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall the app. Leaderboard data retained by Google is subject to Google's policies and your Google account controls.
The app is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Google Play Games, please contact us so we can help you address it with the relevant provider.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Questions about this Privacy Policy can be sent via GitHub Issues on the project repository, or through the developer contact email shown on the Google Play store listing for Chess Puzzles.
